As you can see, Blog-Op has finally been graced with a new theme – well, it is nearly a year old!
It’s based on Talian-10, and I’ve just tweaked a few elements here and there, to try and customise it a little. I think all of the features are there, although I can see a couple of widgets need tweaking. But hopefully it all works OK, and looks all right on various resolutions, set-ups etc.
Obviously if you see any glitches, please let me know.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackLooks great, Chris! Other than just minor things like top margins for sidebar content, the only thing I noticed is that the comments button is against a white background instead of light green.
Not sure I like the background colour, its hurting my eyes a bit.
Also recent stumbles are creeping out of their sidebar.
Other than that I like it
Thanks guys.
Michael, do you mean the comments button, showing the number of comments? It appears to be on a green background to me – are you on infamous IE?
Claire, I agree about the background colour, I’d like to get it to an ‘off-white’ of some description so it isn’t so bright, but I’m having trouble tracking down the element.
Bleedin’ Stumble things annoying as well, as it never seems to stop where it should!
Well I think it’s rather snazzy…
Looks fresh and nice. Even if I don’t really like the black titles in the sidebars ^^
I like it, this green is cool and the appearence is fresh
It looks fine to me. Self-serving wench that I am, I am just happy that there is a search box at the top so I can find my favorite topics and nab information from ya!
Thanks!
I was thinking about changing the black, but I’m useless with colours.
Suggestions?
Chris, loving the new theme! I am a big fan of white spaces so obviously i like this one! Very snazzy. How about a dark shade of gray like #626469 for the sidebar titles? I am not great with colours either.. but you could use Firebug to quickly see how different colours look by changing it in the Firebug styles column.
Chris, another suggestion. If you added a tag to the sidebar items, they may be even more visually appealing than being left aligned.
Thanks K, I’ll give the grey a go, it should soften things slightly.
With regard to your second suggestion, how would I go about this? I dabble in CSS but am far from an expert
Ta
Chris, sorry! If you are adding these through widgets then it is very simple. Try adding as the first line and in the last line of the widget code. This should work even if you are adding the code directly to your sidebar.php. Just surround the block of any code with the tags. You could look at my sidebar especially the ‘Bookmark Us’ section to see what I am talking about.
The theme looks nice to me, although a little customization goes a long way.
Sorry I couldn’t get the previous theme to work right. I’ve been studying CSS myself to learn how to make things work better. I have trouble with padding and margins, especially when testing with IE6.
By the way, if you like green or blue, you can make those sidebar headers look really cool and nearly 3-dimensional by making the center color dark, the top color medium and the bottom color light. In fact, that should work for most colors, even gray. The black is a little harsh.
Great look there buddy. Easy on the eyes too.
Chris, the theme looks great. The colors look good
Thanks everyone, I’m trying to implement some of these.
Don’t worry about the old theme RT, it was just that, old, and I don’t think the coding was quite right to start with.
Chris, I like the gray much better than black. Very easy on the eyes! Tweaking my theme to me is as much fun as blogging itself!
Sharp eyes have probably noticed the changes I have done to header and footer this week!
You have toned it down some haven’t you
Yeah, the grey was K’s suggestion and he nailed it first time. I think it looks better than the original template now.
Looks great!
