Obviously I love receiving comments on Blog-Op, and I like to give you some value back to you by reading and replying to every one, along with using DoFollow so that you get a linkback. I also approve 99% of pingbacks, which also return more links to your blog via DoFollow.
But, I am not open to abuse on comments, so:
- You may leave whatever link you like in the comment URL box, and I would recommend and encourage you to deep link to your own blog posts.
- I don’t mind relevant extra links within the body of the comment. The key word is relevant.
- But I will not allow extra links or hyper linked ‘signatures’ which have no relevance. In the first instance I will edit out the hyper link, repeated attempts to do this will be deleted as spam.
The expression we use in the UK is ‘don’t take the piss’.
I don’t wish to be rude, but it’s happening more often these days.

Well I would never be guilty of it as I have no clue how to put a hyperlink into a comment anyway! Hehe
Oh, I finally got around to removing the no-follow on blogspot – I guess this could be something I might have to deal with now.

Hey thats probably me. i just do it out of habit, like signing a letter. Sorry if it offends, I didn’t really see it doing any harm.

You comment often and contribute: This post was aimed at those people who do nothing but pop up with a ‘good post’ comment and then drop half a dozen links off.
I was feeling tetchy….
GC…you do add your site as a signature at pretty much every blog. This bothers some, but not others.
Personally, I don’t mind when you do it at eJabs. Also, like Chris said, since you contribute & comment so much on so many blogs (hence your PR of 5 – GOOD JOB by the way) people don’t usually care. It’s mostly to the people who just visit once & try to get a link out of nothing.
PS…thanks for posting this Chris…this kind of stuff bugs me too.
It’s definitely the ‘seagull’ commentators I’m aiming at (Fly in, drop a load of crap, and fly out again)
