I'm moving to the States!!!!!

In the UK, if I earn $100 (or even $1 actually) in a whole year's blogging and fail to declare it, I would be subjected to at least a $200 penalty.

Even though I wouldn't actually be taxed on such a small amount, the offence is to fail to declare.

Chris: From what I understand, we could make $599 from 500 different sources and not be taxed. Will that happen? I doubt it.

I'm not so sure on the tax laws on my side blogging as well.. :D How about 'sponsorships' for blogs? Some are in the form of money, so I wonder if taxes are imposed on it too..

Show off ;-)

So, if you don't exceed $600 from 500 different sources, you don't pay any tax?

Or do you still have a duty in the US to report your earnings.

We have to report ANY money considered income (ie not a gift)but only get taxed above a certain level.

Hey Chris:

Google (or any company) will 1099 us if we make over $600 from any one source (Google Ads, Text Link Ads, etc.).

So as long as I only make $599 from each of them, I won't receive a 1099, and don't have to claim anything!

Not likely...I'll most likely be 1099'd by Google this year considering I've made almost $200 in my first 2 months of ads.
