Delving back into my archives these are 5 of the best articles posted on Blog-Op since I started 3 months ago, in my opinion. You can also check out a list of the most popular articles by number of comments should you fancy a read
I’ve chosen them according to either being particularly useful, or having had tangible results for me.
- Be A Good Stumbler - I wrote this post outlining how to use a tool like StumbleUpon to both better your blogging and to help drive traffic to your site. As I hoped, someone did stumble it (thanks ‘PotterFan’ whoever you are) and it has been responsible for driving over 8000 visitors to the site on it’s own, in little over a month. Several hundred a day are still coming in. This both validates what I wrote, and also shows that one of the best ways to help a fellow blogger is to stumble one of their posts.
- How To Setup A Blog - Specifically how to setup or move to a WordPress blog, this two part post is one of my better pieces of writing, and has already helped a couple of Blogger users to make the switch, with great results. If you’re wondering how hard it is to go with Wordpress, the answer is that it isn’t, and this article will show you how.
- The Z-List - It Works! - It certainly has, as my Technorati links have gone from 32 to 209, with a resultant rise in the rankings.
- Google Sitemaps - Essential. This post tells you how to get a sitemap for your blog, why you should and what to do with it. Blogger users are not left out either, with specific instructions for them here. Proof of the validity of this post is that my recently created blog Autofocused, was indexed by Google 2 days after creation. Using the Sitemap plugin results in my posts getting indexed by Google much faster, sometimes hours after posting. If you haven’t got a sitemap, but want Google searches to bring traffic to you, then get one ASAP.
- How To Upgrade Wordpress - As the recent poll results showed, peoples versions of Wordpress are all over the place. This 10 point distillation of Wordpress’ own guidance will show you that upgrading is easy, and takes only minutes.
I hope you find these, and indeed all of what I post, useful in someway. If you do, I’d always be grateful for a ‘Stumble’ or a link, and I’m always happy to reciprocate. Thanks for visiting.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI guess the most interesting one is the first one. I enjoy stumbling new stuff as well.
Stumble away then Lyndon
Hey Chris:
I like the idea of the “Best of” page. Right now I have my “best of” listed on the top of my left sidebar. I really think that has been helping my google adsense (medium rectangle) right next to the “best of”.
I also want to create a “Best of” page, but am running into a problem.
On the best of page I want to list by category…and list the top 10 in each category.
On the sidebar, I just want to list the top ten overall.
My problem is…there is only one configuration in the options…and I can’t do both. Do you know any way around this?
I don’t off the top of my head Matthew, and you beat me to the authors blog to ask him..
However, one answer may be to run the TPBC plugin on the best of page and Alex Kings Popularity Contest plugin in the sidebar. Hopefully they won’t clash.
If this works, I want you to write a post for Blog-Op
(It can be about eJabs if you like)
If it doesn’t work, I don’t ever want it mentioned again
Seriously, HTH.
Hey, I just joined Stumble thanks to your suggestion! Kai sent me over - but then when I started reading, I realized I already knew you
Great blog! Lots of interesting info…
