My recent post on spreading the link love for your commenters was aimed solely at WordPress users as it was a plugin.
However, those of you using Blogger can now follow us, and offer link love to your commenters by carrying out the simple instructions at BetaBloggerForDummies: Remove NoFollow attribute on comments.
It’s a very simple alteration to your template, where you delete one line of code. The instructions are very clear, and as long as you backup your template first (download it) nothing can go permanently wrong.
Who’s going to do it?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackIs this supposed to be the Blogger equivalent of the # of comments gizmo that you have? I read the linked article and am still not sure. Perhaps I need a Real Dummies’ Guide to Google Blogger….

Again, funny that you would post this as I read it at the dummies site the other day (while still trying to work on getting my stupid header clickable!) Anyhoo… was going to ask you about it – does that not suck the PR out of a site, or is it a good thing? And with blogger, 8 out of 10 comments link only to profile pages – would you be giving away tons of link love to profiles?
I guess my question is what are the benefits to doing this?
Oh, off topic, but I just bought my domain this morning! Had to go with thebuzzqueen, but close enough! Just have to wait for paypal to clear and it’s all mine!
You were right too – dirt cheap, and so is hosting, so I may be following along soon…
Yes, in Blogger, comment links back to the profile pages – that’s a problem.
I will figure out how to do this.

Finally we have something like this for Google Blogger!
Thanks!
Sort of Curmudgeon, but a lot more straightforward – people just get the value of links from their comments.
Good work Kai, come to WordPress…..
Regards the profile problem, all you need to do is leave comments as ‘other’ and put you name and URL in the boxes, as I do when commenting on your blogs. Encourage others to do the same if they want the link love…. The benefits to you are nothing, other than giving a little gift for commenting.
Cheers Andy!
Thanks for responding Chris – do you think it has any negative impact to your PR?
I don’t think it has any negative aspect Kai, it’s the kind of thing Andy Beard is hot on, and he advocates DoFollow.
The next update is next week, so I’ll let you know what happens to my PR!!
My view is that I’ll do so much to please Google, but after a while you have to look at pleasing your readers too.
Thanks again. I do really think it’s a good idea – will look into it tomorrow.
After all, I’m sure Claire could use a bit more link love
(hehe)
Nice blog, really like the color scheme. I found it while researching for my latest challenge the DoFollow Pingback Challenge. I have DoFollow turned on for my blog and the challenge is to see how long it takes me to find 100 blogs that have it on as well. Hope you pop over and take a look, either way glad I found your blog.
Hi Susan, I think you’re the first person to compliment my colour scheme
Sounds interesting, I shall certainly have a look.
That kind of info is really valuable. I´ll change my template right now to follow comments.
Thanks a lot and feel free to visit me any day to have some fun.
