If you look up at the address bar, you’ll see a FavIcon - It’s the stylised ‘B’ next to the ‘http’. Your blog can live without one, but I like them because:
- They take about 2 minutes to install.
- They are added to Bookmarks & RSS feeds, which helps them to stand out on long lists-and encourage people to click on them.
- You can use them as your logo on Technorati and others - The beginnings of building a ‘brand identity’.
To install, first find your preferred image - this could be your own photo or image: You can pick up free use photos from Open Stock Photography and others, or use a free banner generator.
Save this image where you can find it, and then visit FavIcon from Pics. Upload your photo, then generate the FavIcon. Download it, copy the short line of code into your blog header, and then upload the FavIcon to your blog server. That’s it, your FavIcon should now appear on all your blog pages.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI’m probably missing something ridiculously easy, because your instructions are top notch as usual
Where the heck is the code? I can make the little picture, then I download, but don’t see a code anywhere in the file I downloaded - all I see is my little picture? Can I ask how I find the code once I’ve downloaded the favicon?
I knew as soon as I asked a stupid question I’d figure it out.
Please ignore the above question
It happens to me all the time…. I think it’s the act of writing it down, that makes you think it through. At least that’s my excuse…
I’m proud (and somewhat embarrassed) to report that I finally managed to add a little favicon to TBQ.
Since your instructions are usually for wordpress users, I just need to remember that ‘upload to your blog server’ or ‘root folder’ etc, means Photobucket for me
I also need the obvious to be stated… as in ‘put the URL of your favicon into the actual code’. At least I can laugh at my own antics.
Good job Kai, nice Favicon. If you want to write up how you did it for Blogger, I’ll post it here & link to you….

Figured out something, When using Wordpress Templates, it’d be best to add in the following when copy/pasting your favicon into the header template: “http://yourdomain.com/favicon.ico”
It will make it so that it goes site wide, and not just on the main page, as your website doesn’t show a favicon on this single post
That’s a top tip Will, and I was wondering how to fix that only the other day.
I shall give it a spin!
