If you look up at the address bar, you’ll see a FavIcon – It’s the stylised ‘B’ next to the ‘http’. Your blog can live without one, but I like them because:

  • They take about 2 minutes to install.
  • They are added to Bookmarks & RSS feeds, which helps them to stand out on long lists-and encourage people to click on them.
  • You can use them as your logo on Technorati and others – The beginnings of building a ‘brand identity’.

To install, first find your preferred image – this could be your own photo or image: You can pick up free use photos from Open Stock Photography and others, or use a free banner generator.

Save this image where you can find it, and then visit FavIcon from Pics. Upload your photo, then generate the FavIcon. Download it, copy the short line of code into your blog header, and then upload the FavIcon to your blog server. That’s it, your FavIcon should now appear on all your blog pages.
