If you press ‘alt-shift-v’ while in the WordPress WYSIWYG text editor, you’ll find you have a load more editing options.

I have no idea why they hid it, but there you go. At least I can now have text of different colours, custØm char&€ters and the ability to underline things, plus a few other bits and pieces. Enjoy.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackOoooh. I didn’t know this. Thanks a bunch, Chris!
This only works in the “visual” editor, so if you have the visual editor disabled, you can’t use this extra toolbar.
And they say there’s not magic left in the world.
Thanks for the great tip. I wonder why they would hide that. Did you discover this on your own?
I think they call it an Easter Egg, but given it’s extra functionality, I think it should be made visible all the time.
Lenny, I remember reading this in someone’s comment box just after 2.1 came out, promptly forgot about it, and only remembered it the other day.
It was probably either Matt or Lorelle’s WP blogs…
Wow, that’s pretty cool. Like RT, I don’t use the visual editor (my images always seem to be messed up), but I’m sure it would be useful to people who do.
I’ve found image insertion to be much better with 2.1, but you’re not the first to say that.
I can’t believe I did not know about this until now.
Thanks a lot Chris!
Glad to help - I can’t believe they kept it a semi-secret!
thanks! jut what I needed…

You’ll love Wordpress, how long before you transfer your blogspot blog to WP?

This is an awesome tip! I never knew this, and thought the current setup was stupid without the extra options. Thanks!
I have no idea why they kept this secret-I wish it was switched on full time. Glad it helped!
