Is it just me that’s suffering with Google Reader at the moment? When I load it, it shows all the new posts by blog, but clicking on the blog to read, just results in the little bubbling flasks for all eternity.
This has been happening for the last couple of days, and appears to coincide with the recent update to FF 2.0.0.4. I installed Google Gears to see if that would help, and it did indeed allow me to read the posts offline, but it would then not reconnect the following day.
This problem has occurred on 2 different PC’s, both running FF 2.0.0.4, one with Google Gears and one without. Google Reader still works OK in both IE’s 6&7 but that’s no fun at all, although at least it proves it’s a Firefox issue.
Anyone else? This is making it hard work to get around & visit people, as I have to do it the old fashioned way

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackNo Chris. I am too having the same problem with Google Reader. One thing you can check is if you have made it ‘Offline’ to work with the Google-Gear. Make it ‘Online’ and it should show the feeds.
Guys.. time to switch to Great News! Just kidding.. have you looked at any Google forums to keep a tab on the buzz? Hopefully it will get fixed fast as almost 65% of my feed subscribers use Google Reader! Don’t ask me why I don’t.
Chris, I think Google Reader gets hiccups once in a while because sometimes I can’t even get new posts without refreshing the page. Even still, I have it set to mark them as read as I scroll down and that doesn’t work sometimes, regardless of which browser I use.
So the answer is… it’s not only you.

I don’t use Firefox routinely, but I have been having quirky problems with Google Reader. The keyboard shortcuts work just fine when I’ve first logged on, but stop registering after about 5 minutes. I’ve duplicated this on several Windows XP Pro PCs with IE 6.0 & 7.0.
It seems that no matter which program, etc. I use lately, it has some burp, hiccup, or doesn’t work at all. I blame Bush. LOL
I haven’t use google reader and Gear up. So, I can’t much about it. But, I have seen many negative issues about Goo-Gear.
Thanks for letting me know guys, it’s reassuring that it’s not just me, but it’s frustrating as hell to use
I had minor problems with the bubbly flask yesterday, but seems to be fine now. (2.0.4 on PC). I didn’t do any quirky things to fix it, it did it on its own.
My Share Feed is slow to update. But this could be a purposeful delay on Google’s end.
Come on Chris ..Shift to IE 7 .
It won’t install on this PC Madhur, it keeps failing halfway through installation. Oh, and it’s cocked up Windows Explorer as well.
Typical Microsoft ‘quality’…..
The only Google Reader anomaly that I’ve come across is that I read an article, it gets marked as read, then I open reader again an hour later and that article is marked as unread again. This happens to about 10 blogs a day of the ones that I read, and never the same 10.
On a side note, Chris, have you tried a Registry cleaner utility like CCleaner to scrub any detritus off before attempting an install of IE 7? I swear by CCleaner – use it sometimes several times a day on client PCs.
It isn’t always MS at fault for XP flakiness. – it’s quite often the 3rd party junk that’s stomped all over your Registry & left all sorts of crud behind even after an install. Don’t even get me started on Symantec apps… Grrr!
I was getting that too Jason-I’m going to have to find a new reader for now
You’re probably right Rob, as I did install IE7 on my other PC with no probs. I think I need to reformat & re-install this PC, but I just don’t want too….
Well, before you resort to a full-out scrub, Chris, you really ought to try CCleaner. You might be pleasantly surprized…
[...] to my earlier reported problems with Google Reader, I’ve narrowed it down to this: In Firefox 2.0.0.4 Google Reader is NOT loading FeedBurner [...]
I shall give it a try then Rob, thanks.
