Quite simply, five of my favourite WordPress plugins for improving the navigation of my blog:
- Related Posts: Make the most of your archive, by showing a list of related posts within each new post, as you can see at the bottom of this one. It gives your visitor more to read, and increases the stickability of your blog. The installation instructions are a little vague, so you may find my more detailed instructions for installing the related posts plugin useful.
- ST Add Related Posts To Your Feed: Don’t forget your feed readers, as they are the most faithful of all your visitors - just upload and activate this plugin to show the related posts in their feed reader as well.
- Where Did They Go From Here: Works with related posts to show where other readers went after reading the current post. Useful for you to track visitor behaviour, and a useful way of showing the reader further posts of interest.
- Subscribe To Comments: One of the easiest ways for your readers to keep up with debates that may develop within your comments. Each time a new comment is made, all subscribers are emailed with the comment, and given a link to return to the conversation and comment further.
- Edit Comments: If your readers make a typo in the comment, this great plugin enables them to edit the comment and correct it. It also makes comment control for the blog author much more powerful’ behind the scenes’ as well, giving you instant click & edit capabilities.
I like these plugins, for the greater reader interaction they encourage, along with the information they give you, the author, plus the SEO benefits they give your blog through greater interlinking etc. Pretty much essential.
