This could prove interesting: The Good Blogs.
The concept is simple. Join TGB, add your blog or blogs, and then install their widget code as I have below ‘Recent Comments’ on my right sidebar. You can set various tags for your blog, and TGB will (apparently quickly) assign your blog to the relevant category or ‘community’. Then, as you can see from my widget, other blogs post titles will show up, linking to those blogs, and my posts should show up on other like minded bloggers widgets.
As you are put in the ‘general’ category initially, the blogs in the widget are not particularly relevant at the moment, but I will be interested to see how quickly it adapts, and improves the relevancy.
Their aim is to be a ‘community of bloggers promoting bloggers’ meaning that you should receive inward traffic from your appearances on other peoples widgets, whilst promoting outward traffic from yours. The widgets obviously carry a small ad at the bottom, which doesn’t appear overly obtrusive so far.
It’s free to join, and as the widget is simply a snippet of javascript you insert into your blog, its quick to remove if you don’t want it anymore. There are various forums and communities on TBG that you can join and promote your blog further if you wish, and some statistics will be available through your widget, once it’s been active a little while.
It’s a new service and in ‘beta’ (what isn’t?), and perhaps slightly inspired by MyBlogLog although obviously different; I shall watch it closely and see how much traffic, if any, it generates.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI’ll be interested to hear how this works out. It’s a neat idea, but I’ve never had much luck with getting traffic via textlinks on other blogs.
When I first started, I tried using text link ads via BlogMad and BlogExplosion. I actually bought ~100,000 impressions (which only cost about $10 U.S.), and received all of 50 hits. Hopefully you get a much higher CTR than me! –Anita
BTW - I hope you don’t mind that I switched to calling myself “Crack” instead of “Say No to Crack” on your site. Just trying a little SEO experiment.
Suck it & see
I don’t mind the name Anita, but each time you change it, I think some odd drug related spam has got through! :-O
Haha… sorry. I won’t change it any more! Just wanted to see if it would impact my google rank for that keyword (which it did). -Anita
I used to do for topblogs but then I had a talk with couple of ppl and they said these things aren’t xhtml compliant…might affect in PR
@Crack:It didnt work for me either.Best is to comment on other blogs and make good relations that works faster
I quite agree Ashish, I’ll let it run for week or two, if there’s not results (so far 0 traffic) I’ll delete it.
How could they affect PR?
I joined this a few weeks ago & I think I wrote a post on it (maybe not…don’t feel like looking right now).
I have yet to realize any value from it.
Have any of you noticed any positive effect after adding their widget to your site?
