Web browsers are obviously a very personal choice, and although I don’t want to get into an argument over which is best (FireFox), it is very important for any webmaster to be familiar with the most popular browsers, as they can render your blog/site very differently.
FireFox is a very clever piece of work that will render all modern, standards compliant, websites correctly and will often compensate for any errors in the coding. Internet Explorer on the other hand often ‘breaks’ websites, even those correctly coded, and can make a simple job like choosing a blog template very stressful. It will also sometimes fail to load a website correctly if it encounters an error, as was pointed out to me recently: Thanks Rob!
So, what browser do you use? I’ve based the choices on my most recent visitors (Yep, someone was using IE5!), but I know there’s a few more around. Feel free to re-ignite the browser wars in the comments!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI became a dedicated Firefox user about 3 years ago. It’s still my browser of choice, however I’ve been trying to use IE 7 more-I still think FF has it beat when it comes to tabbed browsing though. I also notice I still get more spyware when using IE. Guess they’ll never learn.
I’m finding that quite a few people still use IE simply because they don’t have a real choice. That is, they (like me) are forced to use whatever browser a vendor will certify that its web-based product will work in. And in the corporate world, IE rules the roost.
Of course, the whole notion of a web-based app being hard-coded to a particular browser is the grandaddy of oxymorons, but hey, that’s vendors for ya…
I’m totally hooked on IE7’s tabbed browsing in spite of the fact that I had previously discounted that feature as pointless. Well, I was wrong on that count for sure!
I have been an IE user ever since i started surfing the net .
I do understand that some people don’t have the choice, usually through corporate inertia
I love FF’s tabs which is one of the reasons I switched years ago, and although IE have caught up a little, it still seems like a pale imitation.
My stats tell me what browsers my visitors use, but I’m interested to see what the people who actually read the site use as a proportion. I might ask about screen resolutions next….
I use ie7 at home - love the way it works, for me much, much better that FF2.
At work I am forced to use IE6 but also FF2.
I finally switched to FF a couple months ago - and I’ll never go back! Love the tab feature!
Firefox for me, although I have found that one of its strengths can also be a weakness. Several extensions i was using caused serious memory issues (the computer’s not mine)
