Mere days after the security update to 2.0.7, WordPress V2.1 has now been released. Some pretty major improvements have been made, including:

  • Autosave: Never lose a post in the middle of writing again.
  • Tabbed Editor – easily switch between the text editor and HTML.
  • A Spell Checker! I’ve been using Firefox’s, but why not?
  • You can choose any ‘page’ to be the front page of your site – this increases the potential to use Wordpress as the basis for any kind of website or content management system.
  • You can add sub-categories to your links.
  • Improved comments moderation page.
  • A new upload manager to massively improve the way you import videos pictures & audio.
  • Improved database coding.
  • Faster admin.
  • A much improved feed system.
  • A whole new version 2 of the Akismet spam killing plugin.

All this, more and V2.2 is promised for April 23rd. WordPress is getting better all the time, and if you’re serious about blogging, it’s time to make the switch from Blogger.
