Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackHi Carol, many thanks for the article.
That’s a great list, I can vouch for Akismet, Sitemaps, Spotmilk, Analytics & of course Backup being absolutely essential.
I like the look of the advanced WYSIWYG editor as well, I’m off to have a look at that now.
Ooooooh more things to figure out!!!!
I am just stumped about adding buttons and so on for things like technorati and blogexplosion, etc.
I am still figuring out how to change things!!!
Oh and if you know anyone who wants to play around with some pics of cheerios..I am trying to figure out how to make a banner/logo for Crunchy Carpets…
Adding buttons is really quite easy (and you’ve given me another idea for an article!) Simply edit the PHP file where you want it to go (eg Sidebar) and paste the HTML in. Keep backups & nothing can go wrong…
Have you tried Paint.Net (free) for your banner. Erika is very good at that kind of thing, just take her quiz….
Plugins really can make a huge difference. I have a whole post on which ones helped me increase traffic the most – the bottom line is, be sure to install related entries, subscribe to comments, and dofollow.
I’ll install related entries once their server is working again. Not heard of dofollow, I’ll shall have a look, thanks.
